Badbury RingsSome hill forts involve a bit of a yomp, but it's a gentle five minute stroll from the spacious car park
to Badbury Rings.
Dating from around 800BC, the banks and ditches are well preserved. The top is wooded so affords some shade.
To just see it and go takes half an hour or so, but it's on the huge Kingston Lacy estate so the (free) Badbury Rings car park can be used as the starting point for long walks. The 2 mile stretch of road leading to the rings is a lovely Nalopeon-style beech tree-lined avenue. Nearby are the Royal Signals Museum and Kingston Lacy. |map| |next attraction|
