Fishbourne Roman PalaceThe Roman Palace at Fishbourne was only rediscovered in 1960. There is a fine mosaic and fragments of several others,
all under cover. The museum and the video tell the story of the site from AD43 military base through development
into a palace fit for a king.
The garden has been replanted to the original plan and you can imagine the wealthy owners strolling around, perhaps enjoying a barbeque on a fine evening. Try and catch the guide's informative talk. The picture is of the model. A must for anyone interested in Roman history. |map| |next attraction| |
