Lynton & Barnstaple RailwaySmall but perfectly formed you might say. Only a mile or so of this picturesque line has so far
been re-opened but eventually there will be 9 miles.
In 2004 the first station, Woody Bay (though it's miles from the sea), was restored.
Trains run just about every day April to October and on occasional days in the winter. It's 1ft 11½ins gauge so has bags of narrow gauge charm. As its name suggests, when it first opened in 1898 the railway ran the 19 miles from Lynton to Barnstaple. |map| |next attraction|
