Pembroke CastleIf you like clambering up stone spiral staircases and exploring nooks and crannies you'll like Pembroke Castle -
there's just enough of it left to make it interesting to explore.
Displays and tableaux tell the story of the castle and its inhabitants from pre-Roman times to the present day.
The castle was unused for a couple of hundred years until it was repaired and pressed into service during the civil war - but that resulted in Cromwell blowing bits of it up. Good quiz question: where was Henry Tudwr - later Henry VII - born? Here at Pembroke Castle in 1491. Bet you didn't even know he was Welsh. |map| |next attraction|
