Portchester CastleWe expect to see only remnants of mosaics or a few knee high walls when we visit Roman sites
but at Portchester Castle most of the walls are still as high as when the Romans built them.
The Normans added the church and the castle keep.
You can climb to the roof of the keep (from where the picture was taken). The museum and audio tour tell the story from 290AD Roman fort to the present day. Zoom in on the map and switch to satellite view for a great aerial picture of the castle. |map| |next attraction|
