South Tynedale Railway
The 2ft gauge South Tynedale Railway runs for a scenic 2¼ miles from Alston to Kirkhaugh.
The drive to Alston from Penrith over the Hartside Pass is spectacular too.
Work is in progress to extend the line: if you live nearby and want something to do volunteers are always welcome. Or if you have £400,000 spare that's also needed to fund the extension. |map| |next attraction|
